Privacy Policy
Effective April 27, 2026
The short version
We collect the bare minimum needed to tailor your resume, and we never sell or share your data with advertisers. Your resume text is sent to Anthropic (the company behind Claude AI) to generate your tailored output, and is not used to train any AI model. What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in, our authentication provider (Clerk) stores your email address, name, and a unique user ID. We use this only to recognize returning users and enforce the free-tailor quota.
- Resume text and job descriptions. The text you paste (or upload as a PDF) is sent to our server, then forwarded to Anthropic’s API to generate your tailored resume. We do not retain a copy on our servers after the response is returned.
- Application drafts (optional). If you save applications inside the app, that data is stored in your browser’s
localStorageon your own device. It does not leave your machine unless we explicitly add a cloud-sync feature in the future, which would require you to opt in. - Quota counters. We track how many tailors you’ve used, in your Clerk account metadata, so we can enforce the 7-free-tailor limit. No content of your tailors is stored alongside this counter.
- Standard server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) records IP addresses, user-agent strings, and request paths for security and abuse prevention. These logs are automatically rotated.
How we use your data
- To run the resume-tailoring service you asked for.
- To enforce the free-tier quota, prevent abuse, and apply rate limits.
- To send you account-related emails (sign-in confirmations, billing receipts if you upgrade). We do not send marketing email without your explicit opt-in.
- To investigate suspected abuse of the AI features. If we temporarily disable an account, we keep a minimal record of the reason for our own audit trail.
What we do NOT do
- We do not train AI on your resume. Anthropic, our AI provider, processes your input to generate a response and does not use API submissions for model training.
- We do not sell your data. Not to recruiters, not to job boards, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We do not share your resume with third parties beyond the service providers listed below, each of whom is contractually limited to processing data on our behalf.
- We do not show ads, run retargeting pixels from advertising networks, or sync your data to ad platforms.
Service providers
We use a small number of vendors to run the service. Each one processes data only as needed to provide their function:
- Anthropic — runs the Claude AI that generates your tailored resume and cover letters. Subject to Anthropic’s commercial terms; not used for training.
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Vercel — hosting, serverless compute, and request logging.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (only used if you invite a friend).
Retention
Your tailored output is generated on demand and is not retained on our servers after the response is sent back to your browser. Your account information persists until you delete your account. Your saved applications (in localStorage) persist until you clear them or clear your browser data — they are entirely under your control.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, email resumespeedrun@gmail.com from the address associated with your account. We’ll respond within 30 days.
If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA respectively. Same email applies — we honor all valid requests.
Children
Resume SpeedRun is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we will delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date at the top of this page and notify signed-in users by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
